{So, that's the giant.
Tiamat who formed all things,
Made in addition weapons invincible; she spawned monster-serpents,
Sharp of tooth, and merciless of fang;
With poison, instead of blood, she filled their bodies.
Fierce monster-vipers she clothed with terror,
With splendor she decked them, she made them of lofty stature.
Whoever beheld them, terror overcame him,
Their bodies reared up and none could withstand their attack.}
Interesting.

Date: 2009-01-23 12:15 am (UTC)...St. Martha?}

Date: 2009-01-23 12:30 am (UTC)St. Martha is the tamer of the Tarasque, a great dragon with legs like a bear, an ox-like body covered like a turtle's shell, a lion's face, and a tail with a scorpion's sting at the end. It was impervious to the efforts of man, but she calmed it with prayers and hymns, and it became docile and offered no resistance to the townspeople, who killed it without knowing of its new gentle nature. In repentance, the villagers converted to Christianity and renamed their town "Tarascon" in its honor.}
